I'm really happy to finally share this one — "Stanna" is out.
It's the sixth single from Längs med vägen, the album I've been making together with my co-writer and friend Emil Nordström. We wrote it about wanting time to stand still — that wish to freeze someone, a moment, a version of a person, before anything has to change. In the chorus we imagine staying like that forever, like a stone statue in a city square, untouched by the years.
But the song doesn't let you rest in that wish for long. It turns to a harder question underneath it: what actually stays? Is a memory all that's left of everything we had?
For me it comes from the people closest to me — my parents, my relationships, the different versions of myself I've had to let go of along the way. You give so much time to someone, and one day that version of them is gone. Sometimes it happens slowly. Sometimes it's an illness, and you find yourself missing the healthy person they used to be. You don't get that version back — and you don't get your own back either. "Stanna" lives in that frustration, and in the tenderness underneath it.
Emil produced, arranged and mixed it, and played guitars, with Johnny Nordström on electric piano and synth, Tuukka Aitoaho on drums, Stefan Lindblom on bass, Stefan Backas recording it, and Maria Triana mastering it in Amsterdam. A lot of hands and a lot of care went into this one.
